EMSD has carried out a voluntary energy efficiency label (EELS) scheme for household and office appliances since the year of 1995. The aim of this scheme is to supply the energy-efficiency data of different products for consumers to advertise the energy-saving information; meanwhile, it’s launched to encourage the suppliers of electric appliances to produce more energy-saving products to satisfy consumers’ demands. The voluntary energy-efficiency label scheme adopts two labels, namely "level type" and "confirmation type". At present, the label products categories of the voluntary energy-efficiency label scheme include household appliances and office equipments.
Induction cookers, electric dryers, water type heaters, TVs, electric cookers, and electronic ballasts;
7 kinds of office equipments include: photocopiers, facsimile printers, multifunctional office equipments, laser printers, LCDs, computers, cold and hot water machines
a kind of household gas appliances, namely hot gas water heater.
In addition, this scheme also includes private cars.
